Western Isles Drug Dealers Sentenced

Two men caught dealing drugs in the Western Isles back in 2008 have been handed down custodial sentences.
Donald MacAulay, 21, from Upper Carloway was sentenced to two years and four months and Derek Mackay, 29, from Newmarket, Isle of Lewis received two years and nine months for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs (namely cocaine) on the Isle of Lewis.
Both men were arrested as part of Operation Hazard, an intelligence-led operation to target Class A drug supply on the island. Police have seized around 1160,000 worth of drugs and cash during the operation.
Northern Constabulary welcomed the handing down of the sentences at Stornoway Sheriff Court last week.
Area Commander for the Western Isles, Chief Inspector Gordon MacLeod, said: "We welcome the sentences handed out to these individuals. We will continue to pursue those involved in the supply of illegal drugs across the Western Isles and those who take part in this activity will be dealt with robustly."
